When King & Wood Mallesons gathered for their National Conference at their CBD headquarters, the focus was clear: pause, connect, and collaborate. As teams from across the country came together, the need for a meaningful, energising experience became central to the day’s agenda. That’s where Dya stepped in—with a creative solution that offered more than just a break from routine.
Collaborative Team Workshop Through Art
Our Paint Your Colleague workshop invited participants to see each other and themselves through a different lens. With guided support from the Dya team, each person explored how to express their colleague’s personality using colour, form, and imagination. More than a portrait, each painting became a shared act of appreciation and insight.
For many, this was their first time picking up a brush in years. Yet what emerged wasn’t just art—it was laughter, dialogue, and a renewed sense of connection.
Breaking Down Barriers with Creativity
Corporate events often aim to build collaboration. But traditional formats can keep conversations surface-level. In contrast, creative practice naturally levels the playing field. There’s no right answer—just the opportunity to explore, play, and reflect.
By engaging in a non-verbal, sensory activity, KWM staff were able to bypass workplace roles and titles. What remained was a genuine encounter with one another, grounded in laughter and creativity.
A Moment of Wellbeing
Painting offered more than team building—it became a form of mindfulness. Slowing down, focusing on colour, and creating something by hand helped participants reconnect with their senses and step out of “work mode.”
Workplaces today are increasingly aware of the role creativity plays in supporting mental health. This session offered a reminder: sometimes, the most productive thing we can do is pause and make something—together.
Customised Workshops for Organisational Culture
At Dya, we design art-based workshops that are as strategic as they are expressive. Every session is tailored to reflect the organisation’s goals—whether it’s team alignment, innovation, wellbeing, or cultural values.
The KWM National Day wasn’t just about fun. It was about aligning teams through shared experience, breaking down silos, and building trust. Creative outlets like these create a lasting impact far beyond the canvas.
