A collective artwork inspired by Picasso’s playful experimentation
WHY CHOOSE THIS ACTIVITY
This workshop is designed for teams who want to explore shared creativity, risk-taking and letting go of perfection. Using Picasso’s experimental spirit as inspiration, the group is encouraged to try bold ideas, accept unexpected outcomes and work together on a single, cohesive artwork. It is particularly relevant for teams working on innovation or culture change.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO
Participants collaborate on a large shared artwork, building up layers of colour, shape and imagery in stages. The facilitator introduces references to Picasso’s approach and offers structured interventions that invite people to respond to what others have done. The artwork evolves through many hands, with space to discuss what it feels like to contribute, adapt and sometimes have one’s work transformed by the group.
WHY THIS TYPE OF EXPERIENCE MATTERS
Co-creating a single artwork makes visible many of the tensions and joys of working in a team: ownership, flexibility, surprise and trust. It offers a safe context to experiment with letting go of control and embracing what emerges collectively. The finished piece becomes a tangible symbol of what “one and all” can look like in practice.
