August at Dya Aus: Earth

What Grows When We Create from the Ground Up?

As August comes to an end, we reflect on what it meant to return to the ground through texture, sensation, and shared space. This month invited us to create with intention: to feel the weight of clay, the meaning behind movement, and the power of making something with our hands. From ancient marks to modern reflections, Earth reminded us that creativity grows strongest when it’s rooted in awareness, connection, and care. As we step forward, may the grounding lessons of this month continue to nourish the way we work, feel, and imagine.

Printmaking Workshop (Primary School)

This hands-on workshop introduces primary students to the art of printmaking through playful experimentation and guided techniques. Using accessible tools and materials, students explore texture, repetition, and storytelling while developing fine motor skills and creative confidence. Each child walks away with a personal series of prints and a deeper understanding of how art can communicate ideas in bold, visual ways.

As we wrap up August and our return to the ground, we prepare to enter a very different space, one shaped not by soil and clay, but by shifting perception. This September, we explore the theme of illusion: how what we see isn’t always what we think. From optical tricks to conceptual art, we’ll investigate how illusion can spark creative breakthroughs, expand imagination, and challenge assumptions. Join us as we step into a month of curiosity, surprise, and seeing things differently.
