INTERN AT DYA

Learn what your degree doesn't teach you.

Real studio hours, real clients, real instructors, hands-on from your very first shift. Get your placement hours somewhere that actually puts a brush in your hand.

SEE IT FOR YOURSELF

Gloria did 60 hours with us. Here's what that looked like.

A fine art painting student at RMIT, Gloria rotated through workshops, studio operations, and client-facing admin. Then we hired her.

"It really pushes you outside your comfort zone and you learn a lot. The staff are all lovely, and I never felt lost." Gloria Li, Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting), RMIT

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Three rotations. All hands-on.

Genuine hands-on rotations. You work through the same areas that keep a real creative business running.

Workshop & events

Get in front of real participants and take an active role in the session.

  • Paint-and-sip and Paint in the Dark sessions
  • Kids' school holiday programs (clay and painting)
  • Themed events like Paint Your Dog

Studio projects

Leave with something real that you made yourself.

  • A hands-on project you help design and execute
  • Studio setup, materials, and creative problem-solving
  • Freedom to try things you've never done before

Client & business side

See how a creative business actually runs day to day.

  • Sit in on client and booking calls
  • Help prep materials for schools and corporate clients
  • Direct mentorship from the studio's supervisors
A REAL STUDIO PROJECT

The bathroom mural, start to finish

Gloria designed and painted this herself during her placement, and it is now a permanent feature of the studio.

WHY STUDENTS CHOOSE DYA

This is what you get out of it

  • 1

    Hours that count

Every shift logged toward your university's WIL requirement, with a proper supervision report at the end.

  • 2

You're supervised every step of the way

Direct guidance from Dya's founder, admin lead, and instructors throughout, so there's always someone to ask.

  • 3

    Something to show for it

A real project you can put in a portfolio, plus written feedback from an exit interview.

  • 4

    A genuine way in

We've hired directly out of this program before. If it's a fit both ways, there's a path to paid work.

REAL CLIENT WORK

A collaborative portrait mural, the kind of hands-on project interns take part in.

“
You learn so many skill sets from the different tasks. The painting workshops taught me what it's actually like to teach painting, something I've considered as a career but wasn't sure about.
