Rhythm and Movement: The Dynamic Power of Art

Rhythm and Movement: The Dynamic Power of Art

This workshop focuses on rhythm in art and introduces students to the language and techniques of visual art. They will immerse themselves in an exhibition featuring artists with diverse painting styles, each uniquely expressing rhythm through their artwork.

Students will explore “listening” to rhythm in paintings, discerning how it’s conveyed through different styles. The workshop incorporates classical music as inspiration, helping students tap into their imagination and create visually rhythmic artwork. Through this workshop, students develop a deeper understanding of the connection between visual art, rhythm, and music, fostering appreciation for the expressive possibilities of art.

Learning outcomes:

Students will analyse how rhythm is used in visual art by studying diverse artworks and identifying how artists express rhythm in their own unique ways.

Students will apply their understanding of rhythm in visual art by actively listening to the rhythm present in paintings and recognizing how different painting styles convey it.

Students will create artwork inspired by classical music, using their imagination and internal rhythm to translate the musical rhythm into visual form.

Students will evaluate the connection between rhythm, visual art, and music by reflecting on their own artwork and appreciating the expressive possibilities of rhythm in art.

Learning outcomes:

This workshop can be offered as both an incursion and excursion.

“I think we all have a great night on Tuesday and everyone enjoy such a different experience from our usual social event (e.g. lasertag or GO Kart). I will definitely do the review online and refer this to our colleagues whoever are looking to organise this kind of social event.
Again, thanks you so much for the loving night that your instructors have brought to us and hopefully we will have you guys coming again in the future”
